Surly Blond Ambition

This limited release small batch  is from the Surly Brewing Company of Brooklyn Center (and now Minneapolis), Minnesota. It is a 9.0% ABV blond doppelbock lager aged on hickory honeycombs.

The beer pours a very dark golden and light amber in color. There is nearly an inch of white head. The aroma is sweet, honey, grain, bread, bread dough, and hay. The taste follows the aromas, rich, grainy, honey sweet, floral. It is like eating artisinal bread with honey. The finish is fairly bitter, cutting through the pleasant sweetness in the taste. The beer has a full, but not at all heavy body, with tingling carbonation. This is a very enjoyable beer, a bomb five out of five.
