Boulevard Plaid Habit

This 13.9% ABV imperial brown ale is from the Boulevard Brewing Company of Kansas City, Missouri. It is aged in Canadian whisky barrels.

The beer pours dark brown, with glints of dark gem-like amber. There is a half-inch of tan head, not long lasting. The aroma is sweet, whisky, dark brown sugar, maple, vanilla and wood. There is a touch of fruit, most like dark cherry. The taste follows the aromas, sweet, dark, whisky, vanilla, and cherry. The beer drinks sweet, there is enough oak for a semi-sweet finish, with a light to moderate bitterness. The beer drinks smooth, with a medium body just ample enough to hold up all of the flavors here. This is enjoyable.
