Harpoon Octoberfest

This 5.3% ABV Octoberfest German-style Marzen beer is from the Harpoon Brewery out of Boston, Massachusetts. They just started carrying Harpoon in Iowa, supposedly because it will be served at the Mark Wahlberg restaurant Wahlburgers that just opened in Des Moines (Mark's brother is a chef).

The beer pours a gem-like dark amber and copper. There is a very short head of light tan foam. The aroma is malty, fruity, plum, caramel, and very light molasses. The taste follows the aromas, malty, some caramel sweetness, but then a roasted note hits and it ends with a fairly strong bitterness for the style. The beer drinks with a medium body, smooth, with finely tingling carbonation.
