Schell's Tangerine Pale Lager

This is a pale lager brewed with tangerine peel and flash-frozen Mandarina Bavaria hops. It is from the August Schell Brewery of New Ulm, Minnesota. They are the second oldest family owned brewery in the United States (over 150 years and counting). This was part of their winter sampler pack, the Peacock Pack.

The beer pours a gleaming bright copper and apricot. There is a short head of white foam. The aroma is tangy citrus, not clearly discernible as tangerine, over toasted malt lager. The taste is a soft combination of the two main aromas, citrus and lager, ending with the malty lager just barely predominating. The finish is dry, clean, and moderately bitter. The beer is crisply carbonated and refreshing.
