Exile Horizon Line Coffee Porter

This 7.5% ABV porter is from the Exile Brewing Company  of Des Moines, Iowa. It is made with Guatemalan roast coffee beans from Horizon Line Coffee, also of Des Moines.

The beer pours black in color, with a very short and thin head of dark tan foam. The aroma is a big blast of cold pressed coffee, with a bit of dark fruit in the back. The taste is coffee, dark roasted malt, some char. The finish is semi-sweet, with fairly intense coffee bitterness. The beer drinks smooth and soft, with a small blast of carbonation at the end to give a blast of refreshment.
