The beer pours a very dark brown and
dark ruby in color, almost black. There is a short and short-lived
head of light tan foam. The aroma is dark roasted, yet bright and
fruity, with char, light coffee, and dark berries. The taste follows
the aromas, and you can taste the brown sugar along with the dark
roast notes. The finish has sweetness, but is hopped enough to finish
mostly dry. There is a moderate bitterness. The beer drinks smooth,
with a subtly intense carbonation at the end.
