Toppling Goliath Xhops Maroon Pale Ale

The Toppling Goliath Brewing Company is in Decorah, Iowa. This is the most recent release in their X-hop series of pale ales using experimental hops.

The beer pours a cloudy dirty orange and dried apricot in color. There is a tall, thick, foamy head of off-white that leaves thick layers of sedimentary lacing. The aroma is bright, citrusy, fruit, lots of orange and tangerine, along with pineapple, and sweet, honey floral, bread dough. The taste is an amalgam of the flavors, but it is not as bright, not as intense, and there is a wildly strong grapefruit rind and floral bitterness on the finish. There is a pleasant earthiness in the aftertaste. The beer drinks smooth and soft, with a tingle of carbonation.
