The beer pours black in appearance, just the slightest bit
of translucency through dark brown if held up to the light. There is a
relatively short head of light brown foam. The aroma is dark cocoa, mocha, a
light tang of very dark fruits. Even the aroma seems “creamy.” The taste is
very dark roasted malts, dark cocoa, a bit of char, with a nice dark fruit
sweetness. The sweetness of the malt is immediately tempered and the finish is
dry and lightly bitter. There is a subtle, tingling carbonation, but the beer
also drinks smooth, and dare I say, satiny. This is one really nice stout.
