The beer pours a clear dark golden in color. There is a
tall, fizzy white head that bubbles quickly away. The aroma is light and crisp,
bananas, cloves, and banana bread. The taste follows the aromas, tangy, yeast,
with loads of banana and banana bread, along with some floral notes. It drinks
crisply carbonated and very refreshing, dry, with light bitterness. Gallons of
this and a shaded porch would be a great way to spend some summer days. Way
ahead of its time in 1984!
“A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it is better to be thoroughly sure.” -Czech Proverb

Schell's 30th Anniversary Hefeweizen Series 1984 Recipe
This beer is part of the 30th Anniversary Hefeweizen Series from the August Schell Brewing Company of New Ulm, Minnesota. They were established in 1860 and I believe they are the second oldest family owned brewery in the United States, behind Yuengeling (this is the 30th anniversary of their original hefeweizen release, not of the brewery itself). This sampler pack contained the 1984 Recipe, the 2014 Recipe, a Weizenbock, and a Dampfbier.
