Mikkeller is a brewery based in Denmark. It beers its brews in breweries all over the world. This beer was brewed at De Proef Brouwerij in Lochristi-Hijfte, Belgium. It is 6.4% ABV and part of their Yeast Series 2.0 where several beers were brewed with identical recipes, except a different yeast in each. There are six beers in the series, and I came across four of them. The base recipe is essentially a pale ale, but this one was lagered.
The beer pours copper in color with a tall, thick, foamy head that is off-white in color. The aroma is hoppy, fruity, piney, funky, with a touch of floral on the end. The taste follows the aromas directly, quite hoppy, with melon, tropical fruit and citrus in the fruit. The hops is over a solid malt base, bringing out tea with lemon. It is quite dry and strongly bitter. There is a fine tingling carbonation. This is really good, I can't wait to try the others.
