Mikkeller Yeast Series 2.0 - Saison

Mikkeller is a brewery based in Denmark. It beers its brews in breweries all over the world. This beer was brewed at De Proef Brouwerij in Lochristi-Hijfte, Belgium. It is 6.4% ABV and part of their Yeast Series 2.0 where several beers were brewed with identical recipes, except a different yeast in each. There are six beers in the series, and I came across four of them. The base recipe is essentially a pale ale, and this one uses Saison yeast.

The beer pours a deep copper and amber with a tall head of thick, creamy off-white foam. The aroma is floral, a fruity tartness, yeasty. The taste is very floral, marigolds and geraniums, tart, yeasty, just like the aroma. The finish is quite bitter and very dry. It is well carbonated. If you like floral type saisons, you would like this.
