Dark Horse Kmita Kolsch

This is a 5.5% ABV "Polish Style Kolsch Ale" according to the bottle. The Dark Horse Brewing Company is in Marshall, Michigan. Kolsch is a style of beer native to Cologne, Germany. It is tradtionally a golden lager type beer that is a bit more fruity due to using warm-fermenting ale yeasts instead of cold fermenting lager yeasts.

The beer pours a hazy chestnut and orange. There is about an inch of off-white head that dissipates rapidly. The aroma is malty, a touch of fruity, and also a spicy rye note, like light rye whiskey. I am wondering if they brew this with rye? The taste is malty, a spicy rye-like breadiness, a touch of fruit, and a quite bitter and dry finish. The mouthfeel is a little light and watery and could use some more carbonation.
