Great Lakes Chillwave Double India Pale Ale

This 9.4% ABV Double India Pale Ale is from the Great Lakes Brewing Company of Cleveland, Ohio. This beer used to be called Alchemy Hour, but the brewery had to cease and desist on that name after a threat from the brewers of Widmer Brothers Alchemy ale.

The beer pours copper and amber in color, nearly glowing. There is a half-inch of very light tan head. The aroma is overripe melon, tropical fruits, passion fruit, a touch of pine, hot, spicy, boozy. The taste follows the aromas directly, adding in apricot, full, round, fruity, boozy, damn near a hopped up barleywine, but way more hops than malt. It is medium to full-bodied, round and smooth. This is one massive beer. I think I have to give the nod to their Lake Erie Monster over this, what do you think?
