Peace Tree Triple B - Bourbon Barrel Blonde

This bourbon barrel aged Belgian-style blonde ale is from the Peace Tree Brewing Company in Knoxville, Iowa (and now Des Moines). 

The beer pours a hazy dark golden and amber with orange tints. There is a short and short-lived head of off-white. The aroma is caramel, a touch of sweet potato, oak, with some fruity yeast and hints of whiskey. The taste is sweet, caramel, vanilla, mocha, with some yeasty fruit and light whiskey notes. Although sweet, there is enough oak to make the finish only semi-sweet. There is light bitterness. The beer drinks somewhat smooth, followed by a biting fine carbonation. The body is enough to hold up the big flavors, without being heavy.
