Crawford Brew Works Kinda Kolsch'ish

Crawford Brew Works is from Bettendorf, Iowa.  This is their 5.4% ABV kolsch inspired beer. 

The beer pours a deep dark golden in color. There is very little white head. The aroma is malty, toasted, some caramel and nut. The taste follows the aromas, nicely toasted and malty. The finish has a somewhat intense grassy bitterness. The beer drinks easy, moderately carbonated, refreshing. This is a really good, tasty and drinkable beer, but I am not sure that it is much like a traditional kolsch.
