Potosi Gandy Dancer Porter

The Potosi Brewing Company is in Potosi, Wisconsin. This is their 6.0% ABV porter. The men who built the early railroads were known as gandy dancers.

The beer pours black with a short head of tan foam. The aroma is dark roasted malt, char, light coffee, with a pleasant mineral tang. The taste follows the aromas, well dark roasted, char, coffee. The finish is dry and moderately bitter. The beer drinks easy, with enough body to hold up all of its flavors, but not heavy.

2011: This 6.0% ABV beer pours black in color.  The aroma is fairly light, with some roasted malt, cocoa and vanilla.  The taste is also fairly mild for a porter and follows the aroma, with a bitter finish.
