Shiner Morello Dark Cherry

Shiner beers come from the Spoetzel Brewery in Shiner, Texas (pop. 2,070). This is their Bohmeian Black lager with the addition of Morello cherries.  This 7.0% ABV beer is part of their winter seasonal mixed Texas Cold Front six pack.

The beer pours black in color. There is a short head of tan foam. The aroma is dark chocolate, big cherry, with a bit of hazelnut coffee. The taste follows the aromas, dark chocolate, cherry, coffee, hazelnut, with a bit of char. The beer has a good body, with a touch too much carbonation. The beer is sweet, ending in a light bitterness.
