Ballast Point Aloha Sculpin IPA

This 7.0% ABV hazy India Pale Ale is from the Ballast Point Brewing Company of San Diego, California. It uses Brux Trois yeast for extra tropical notes.  It seems that everyone has a hazy or New England style IPA these days. Let's see how Ballast Point's offering fares.

The beer pours dried apricot and orange in color. There is a tall, billowing head of white to off-white foam. The aroma is musky, and loaded with tropical fruit, guava, passion fruit, some mango and pineapple. The taste follows the aromas, big, juicy, tropical, and musky. The beer drinks very smooth with soft carbonation. The finish is dry and fairly bitter. They did a good job with this one.
