Keg Creek Breakdown Brown

The Keg Creek Brewing Company is in Glenwood, Iowa. The brewery is named after a nearby creek which was originally named Five Barrel Creek for the illicit whiskey found there in the mid-1800's. This is their 5.7% ABV brown ale.

The beer pours a very dark brown in appearance, nearing black. There is a half-inch head of light tan foam. The aroma is very dark roasted, dark chocolate, with some char. The taste follows the aromas, there is some sweetness, but it is bittersweet, with the char and dark chocolate providing a dry, and fairly bitter finish. The beer drinks easy and soft. This is a very nice full-flavored brown ale.
