Keg Creek Brick Red Ale

This 5.7% ABV Irish-style red ale is from the Keg Creek Brewing Company in Glenwood, Iowa. The brewery is named after a nearby creek which was originally named Five Barrel Creek for the illicit whiskey found there in the mid-1800's.

The beer pours dark brown, burnt orange, a touch of dark ruby. There is a short and short-lived head of very light tan foam. The aroma is roasted, nutty, with a stone fruit tang. The taste is roasted and toasted, caramel, nutty, some malt sweetness, but a very dry finish, lightly bitter. There is an implied hint of very, very light peat smoke. The beer drinks very easy, smooth, and moderately carbonated.
