Surly First Avenue +1

This 5.1% ABV golden ale is from the Surly Brewing Company of Brooklyn Center (and now Minneapolis), Minnesota. It is inspired by Minneapolis' iconic and historic First Avenue club.

The beer pours a solid lager gold. There is an inch of white, foaming head. The aroma is bread dough, light hay and straw, with a touch of citrus. The taste follows the aromas, drinking light, a bit watery, and coming to a fairly bitter finish. Moderately to crisply carbonated, this seems designed for crushing, perhaps as you step out of your time machine and watch Prince play Purple Rain at First Avenue.
