Tallgrass Strawberry Shortcake

This 6.0% ABV ale brewed with strawberries is from the Tallgrass Brewing Company of Manhattan, Kansas. 

The beer pours a dark honey golden. There is a half-inch of white foam head. The aroma is strawberry puree, a bit of vanilla, a touch of sweet, and golden grain. The taste follows the aromas, but they don't meld together well into a coherent whole. There is also a metallic bitterness that does not match what is otherwise a very strawberry shortcake flavor. The beer is medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
