Tennent's Whisky Oak Aged Beer

This is a 6.0% ABV Scottish beer aged on Scotch Whisky oak chips. It is from Tennent's of Glasgow, Scotland. The bottle references their original Wellpark Brewery in Glasgow where a Tennent started brewing in 1740, although there has been continuous brewing on the site since 1556.

The beer pours amber colored with just a touch of haziness. There is a relatively short off-white head that is not long lasting. The aroma is of a bright, lightly malty lager, along with vanilla, oak, peat smoke, and whisky, along with the sweetness of whisky. The taste is malt, vanilla, lager, light scotch, along with very light peat smoke, mostly on the finish. There is sweetness, but never overly sweet. The finish is dry with little to no bitterness. The beer drinks easy and quite light. Very drinkable, with enough Scotch coming through to make it classy. This is along the line of the Innis & Gunn products, but is a notch better to me.
