9 White Deer Stag Ban

This is a 4.5% ABV pale ale from the 9 White Deer Brewery in Ballyvourney, County Cork, Ireland. Per the bottle, local folklore tells of a lone white stag that still appears at a mystical well, built where St. Gobnait was told she would find 9 white deer and should build an abbey.

The beer pours a light brown and amber, almost like cream soda. There is a fluffy, head of the most sparkling white. The aroma is lightly malty, with caramel and nut, and lightly fruity, plums and citrus. The taste is the same combination of nutty, caramel malt and bright and citrusy fruit. They are both contrasting, yet complementary, at the same time. The beer drinks with a strong, refreshing carbonation. It has a dry and moderately bitter finish. This is very tasty and highly quaffable.
