Toppling Goliath Nelson Schmelsson (Mikkeller collaboration)

The Toppling Goliath Brewing Company is in Decorah, Iowa. This was a special collaboration brew, done in Decorah, with brewers from Mikkeller of Denmark. 

The beer pours an orange tinted honey golden in color, and a bit hazy. There is a tall, thick, foamy head of white that leaves a curtain of lace on the glass. The aroma is zest and pith of grapefruit, passion fruit, mango skin, and earthy muskiness. The taste follows the aromas quite directly, hitting all of the same notes, lots of citrus fruit, but with the earthy, dank, muskiness increased. The finish is quite bitter, astringent, like the after effect of chewing grapefruit peels. The beer drinks smooth, round, full, but easy.
