The beer pours a gleaming copper in color. There is a tall
and thick head of off-white foam. The aroma is a blast of passion fruit and
guava, so intense it veers to a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc wine, full of
fruit, tangy, vinous, a touch musky. The taste follows the aromas, fills the
palate, into the sinuses, alcohol is present in a vinous quality. The muskiness increases as the beer warms. The finish is
deeply bitter, and the bitterness merges into pine sap notes. I got more pine out of this when I had it three years ago. The ABV
isn’t massive, but this beer sure warms all the way down the throat to the
stomach. It is medium bodied and smooth, with a lightly tingling carbonation.
