Backpocket Jackknife

You can take this 5.8% ABV Jackknife from your backpocket and drink up. It is an American Pale Ale from the Backpocket Brewing Company of Coralville, Iowa.  If you are ever in the Coralville/Iowa City area, or just driving by on I-80, this place is definitely worth a stop. (Query: is this the same as their former Jackknife GPA or German Pale Ale, or did they make changes?)

The beer pours a bright copper in color. There is about a half inch of off-white foamy head. The aroma is bright and citrusy, touch of caramel, bready and crackery, with a hint of dankness. The taste follows the aromas directly. The finish is dry and moderately bitter, with some grapefruit-like astringency. The beer drinks easy with a refreshing carbonation, making a pale ale that is quaffable overall.
