The beer pours as black as charcoal, even when held to the
light. There is over an inch of light brown head. The aroma is dark roasted
malt, char, a bit of smoke, with a tangy, metallic note. The taste is dark
roasted malt, char, hint of smoke, whiff of coffee, a bit of tangy yeast, with
an underlying dark fruitiness. It drinks smooth and round. There is a not
unpleasant metallic tang and a moderate bitterness on the finish. It is dry,
the alcohol is not noticeable in the taste, but leaves a warming effect in the
aftertaste. This is quite well done.
