Belhaven Black Scottish Stout

This 4.2% ABV stout is from the Belhaven Brewery of Dunbar, Scotland, established in 1719. It comes in a draught can with a nitrogen draught flow system.

Like its name, the beer pours black in color, dark mahogany and ruby when held to the light. There is an inch of smooth and creamy head, off-white to very light tan, like fresh, stretched animal skin. The aroma is dark roasted malt, peat, smokey, briney, with a mineral tang. The taste is first a blast of the aromas, lots of peat and peat smoke, like the malting house in a Scotch distillery, and then there is a wave of dark roasted malt flavors, coffee, dark chocolate. There is a bit of mineral tang on the finish. The mouthfeel is very creamy. This is well worth a try.
