Anderson Valley Heelch O' Hops

This 8.7% ABV Double India Pale Ale is from the Anderson Valley Brewing Company of Boonville, California. It has 100 IBU's. "Heelch" means "a lot" in Boontling, the local dialect that the company makes frequent reference to in their beer names. Why "a lot"? Because there are a lot of hops in this beer, Columbus, Chinook, and Cascade. For some reason, it has a beer with deer antlers.

The beer pours a light copper in color. There is a short head of off-white foam. The aroma is citrus, orange, passion fruit, and earthy, dank, pine. The taste follows the aromas directly with passion fruit and the dank pine being predominate, over crackery malt. Despite its high ABV, it drinks crisp, refreshing and nicely carbonated. The finish is moderately to quite bitter, with a real grapefruit biting tang. This is nice stuff.
