This is a 5.99% ABV pale ale from the Bent River Brewery of Rock Island, Illinois, which is located on the might (and apparently bent) Mississippi River. According to the bottle this is comparable to a pre-Prohibition American style beer, medium bodied with a well balanced hoppy finish. It has 26.6 IBU's.
The beer pours a deep amber and copper in color. There is a short head of somewhat creamy light tan foam. The aroma is balanced, roasted malt, caramel, and lemony and grassy hops. The taste is roasted malt, just a touch nutty, caramel, creamy, with light stone fruit and citrus, with a dry and grassy bitter finish. This is exquisitely balanced and really tasty. This is a great session ale and a classic of the style.
