The Okoboji Brewing Company is a relatively new brewpub in Spirit Lake, Iowa, near Lake Okoboji. Their canned beers used to be contract brewed for them (Boji Craft Beers) by the Great River Brewery in Davenport, Iowa. However, the cans now say they were brewed and canned in Spirit Lake. This is a 9.5% ABV Scottish ale brewed with heather tips (not sure how they got those in Iowa). It is 9.5% ABV. Hadrian's wall was of course the "great wall" built across Britain by the Romans to protect their British holdings from those crazy Scots to the north. According to the can: "In the late 1800s, Scottish ales know as "heavies" were primarily served in a small 6 oz. container called a "nip" or a "wee." The name "wee heavy" stuck."
The beer pours a brilliant dark copper in color, with a garnet tint. There is a tall head of thick, very light brown foam. The aroma is malty, with a piney tang from the heather tips. The taste is atrociously sour, with a piney heather tang on the end. Again, this can't be right, looks like they need to clean up their canning line. I did like their other beers.
