This 5.7% ABV brown ale is from Nectar Ales of Paso Robles, California. They have been brewing since 1987. It is brewed with hemp. The beer pours a dark chestnut and light mahogany in color with a light garnet tint when held to the light. There is a creamy head of light brown foam. The aroma is roasted malt, somewhere between cola and coffee. The taste is roasted malt, slightly sweet, like a strong cola, with some whiffs of coffee. It is medium bodied, perfect carbonation, but also smooth. So what does the hemp add? According to their website, herbal notes (no, not that kind of herb), which to me must come across as the cola flavors. This is really good.
