Fuller's is from London, England by the Fuller, Turner and Smith Griffin Brewery, since 1845. A relative youngster by the standards of English history. This 4.5% ABV stout is named after London's iconic black cabs (I like how the lights on the cab seem to actually shine off the bottle from the right angle). According to the bottle it is brewed in London..."with the knowledge."
The beer pours nearly as black as a closed grave at first glance, but hold it to the light and there is some dark ruby red. There is a tall head of thick and creamy cappuccino brown foam, leaving lacing down the glass. The aroma is dark roasted malt, ground coffee, some dark chocolate, with that fruity and mineral tang common to many British stouts. The taste follows the aromas with just the right amount of bitterness on the finish (present, potent, but not overwhelming, and leaving the dark roasted flavors in place). The mouthfeel is the perfect combination of body, carbonation and smoothness. This is a top notch British stout. Cheers mate!
