The Back Road Brewery is in Laporte, Indiana. This beer pours a medium dark chestnut brown in color. There is a short and thin head of off-white foam. There is minimal carbonation. The aroma is malty, caramel, burnt sugar, and a mild nuttiness. The taste follows the aromas, lots of roasted malt, sweet malt, caramel, darkened sugars, with a bit of a tang on the end and enough hops to prevent from getting way too sweet (although it is on the sweet side). Sometimes I try a bottled beer and wonder how it is fresh from the tap at the brewhouse, because it has potential, but I might not be getting the freshest bottle. This is one of those beers.
