The O'Dempsey's line of beers hails from Georgia, but the bottles are brewed for them by the Thomas Creek Brewery of Greenville, South Carolina. This 6.0% ABV beer is an Irish-style red.
The beer pours a medium brown, mahogany in color with ruby tints. There is a short head of off-white to light brown foam. The aroma is malty, toasted and nutty, hazelnut, with some zesty yeast and a cherry-like fruitiness. The taste is malty, roasted, nutty, round, soft and fruity. There is just the right amount of bitterness to keep the heavy malt from getting sweet. It is amply carbonated, coming on at the end and nearly stinging the mouth. This is a nice malty take on an Irish red.
