The Bell's Brewery is in Comstock, Michigan. Bell's did a special beer for their 10,000th Batch and apparently this is a special for the 11,000th? The name of course is a take on the scene from Spinal Tap. It is appropriately, 11% ABV.
The beer pours dark copper and burnt orange, trending towards a ruby tint. There is a short, thick, creamy head of off-white foam. The aroma is big overripe tropical fruit, tangy, red malt, and a touch of booze. The taste follows the aromas directly. There is a huge, round, soft, overripe tropical fruit, both sweet and tangy-zesty, over a solid semi-sweet red and caramel malt base, a touch spicy, a bit of warming booze. It is well-balanced and blended, it doesn't knock your socks off, but man is it nice, and a good place to spend some time. The alcohol is apparent, but comes across warm and soft. Very nicely done!
