New American Freedom IPA

This India Pale Ale is from New American Brewing of Ankeny, Iowa. It has 6.4% ABV, 70 IBU's, and uses Amarillo, Summit, Centennial, Columbus, and Simcoe hops.


The beer pours a deep amber in color with a very thick, somewhat ragged, head of off-white foam. The aroma is oranges, orange peels, citrus, and deep, caramel malt, with a bit of pine sneaking underneath. The taste follows the aromas note for note.  This is a big orange and caramel type of IPA. The finish is dry and fairly bitter, with a spicy note. The beer drinks smooth and full, sweet, but with the sweetness cut off at the end by the hops. This is a nice beer.
