Sierra Nevada Golden IPA

This 5.9% ABV India Pale Ale is from the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company of Chico, California and now Mills River, North Carolina. It has 55 IBU's. It was the new release in the most recent seasonal 4-Way IPA sampler 12 pack. The others were their classic Torpedo Extra IPA, Blindfold Black IPA, and Ruthless Rye IPA.

The beer pours honey golden to apricot in color. There is over an inch of thick, foamy, fluffy, white head. The aroma is mild for an IPA, with some citrus and passion fruit. The taste is tangy citrus, passion fruit, with a hint of dank, ending in a achingly dry and very bitter finish. The beer is medium bodied with a stinging and crisp carbonation that goes well with the bitter dryness. So, the beer is nice enough, but it is one of those where you say, “I bought a whole sampler 12 pack just to try this new one?”
