Smuttynose Vunderbar! Pilsner

This 5.1% ABV German style pilsner beer is from the Smuttynose Brewing Company of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. It  uses Czech Saaz hops. "Vunderbar" is German for "wonderful."

The beer pours a pale yellow golden, like sun bleached straw. There is a tall head of pure white foam. The aroma is grassy, lightly floral, a lemon tart note, a touch of straw and light golden grain. The taste is grassy, light straw, light golden grain.  The finish is moderately bitter and fairly dry. It has a crisp and refreshing carbonation. This is decent, but is missing that certain something to launch it into excellence.
