This is the 2013 release of the fresh hop India Pale Ale from the Deschutes Brewery of Bend, Oregon. This release features Amarillo hops from the Virgil Gamache hop farm (I did not realize that Amarillo hops are a trademarked hop from this farm). They get the hops from the farm to the brewery as quickly as possible.
The beer is 7.8% ABV and pours a pure and deep golden yellow in color. There is an inch of
pure white head. The aroma is fruity hops, mango and passion fruit, citrus, and
dank funkiness. The taste follows the aromas directly, ending in a grassy,
bitter and dry finish. The aftertaste is like biting grapefruit skin. It is
medium bodied and refreshingly carbonated. This is a very nice fresh hop IPA.
