Boulevard Brewing Smokestack Series Collaboration No. 2 White I.P.A.

From the Boulevard Brewing Company of Kansas City, Missouri. This was a 2011 release that has been reimagined and redone as the Reboot White IPA.

This was a collaboration with the Deschutes Brewery.  It combines a hop forward IPA with a spiced Belgian-style witbier.  To the traditional witbier spices of orange and coriander, they added sage and lemongrass.  This 7.4% ABV beer pours a cloudy yet glowing yellow in color.  It has nearly an inch of thick, bubbly white foam that leaves light to medium lacing down the glass.  The aroma is predominantly spices, also yeast, wheat, and hops.  The taste follows the aroma, it has the taste of a good, spiced Belgian white ale, but the hops impart much more citrus, zestiness and zing, and a fuller all around flavor.  This is delicious.  The finish is smooth, with the bitterness imparted on the aftertaste, at the back of the throat.
