I picked this up from a bargain bin at John's Grocery in Iowa City, Iowa which is definitely a place to visit if you are into beer. I guess when it is late April they are anxious to get rid of the beers that still have Santa on them. The beer pours a reddish dark amber in color. There is a tall quarter-inch of thick and creamy head that is light brown in color. The aroma is very malty, toasted, caramel, a touch of sweet potato, with a fruity hoppiness at the end. The hops are obviously not fresh anymore, but still there. There is a some pine. The taste is a wave of sweet maltiness, a hit of carbonation, then a dry fruity and piney wave, followed by a bitter aftertaste of toasted malt. This is an interesting and tasty beer, I will have to try and find it closer to Santa's season next year.
