This 5.9% dunkel, or German-style "dark" beer is part of Samuel Adams Longshot homebrew contest, where each year they choose several home brewer's recipes for their Longshot release. This is the recipe of Corey Martin.
The beer pours very dark brown, nearing black in color, with ruby if held to the light. There is a massive thick, creamy and foamy head that is light brown in color and leaves sedimentary layers of moderately thick lacing down the glass. The aroma is very malty, nicely dark roasted, nearing coffee beans. The taste follows the aromas, dark roasted, some coffee, bright, almost sweet, but with enough bitterness for a crisply bitter finish. The mouthfeel is light for all the flavor, along with a nice creaminess from the large head. Your recipe is a winner Corey Martin.
