Evil Twin Brewing Double Barrel Bible Belt

Evil Twin Brewing has its origins in Denmark, but its beers are actually brewed at different breweries around the world. This 14.0% ABV imperial stout was produced and bottled at Westbrook Brewing in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. It was brewed in collaboration with Prairie Artisan Ales of Oklahoma who make the original Bible Belt and Barrel Aged Bible Belt stouts.

The beer pours a deep black. There is a short head of dark brown head. The aroma is very darkly roasted, deep, molasses, coffee, wood, chili peppers, juicy raisins, and a bit of bourbon. The taste follows the aromas, but is smoother, nicely blending the dark roast notes, the sweetness, the bitterness, with both the flavor and heat of the chili peppers coming through. The finish is semi-sweet and moderately bitter. The beer drinks smooth, round, full, but not heavy. This is well done, and I really like the addition of the chili peppers.
