This is a 13.5% ABV mead, a traditional fermented beverage using honey, from Moonlight Meadery of Londonderry, New Hampshire. It is labeled as a New England Style Honey Apple Wine using fresh pressed apples and honey, conditioned in used barrels. I went back and forth whether to put a mead on my blog, but since it is fermented, why not?
This pours a golden, apple cider color. There is a moderate
effervescent carbonation. The aroma is the ingredients, honey and apples. The
apple notes are crisp and tart. The taste is honey, apples, a bit of pastry.
The sweet and the tart do battle. The alcohol is warming, but not overwhelming.
