Sierra Nevada Pat-Rye-Ot Revolutionary Ale - Beer Camp Across America 2016

This is part of the 2016 Beer Camp Across America special release from Sierra Nevada Brewing of Chico, California. They invited 31 breweries all across America to join in a collaboration brew with them and/or join them on their Beer Camp Tour with six stops across the USA. The release features a mixed 12 pack of six unique beers. This year's release was a bit hard to find and was a whopping $29.99 for a 12-pack.

This is a 5.6% ABV ale that features rye and apples. It was made with Dogfish Head, Devils Backbone, Stoudts, Trillium, and Lawson's Finest Liquids.

The beer pours a cloudy golden yellow in color, with a tint of orange. There is a half-inch of white head that is not long lasting. The aroma is tangy apple over toasted, spicy rye grain. The taste is the opposite of the aroma, heavy on the toasted and spicy rye grains, very light on any apple notes. There is a bit of apple in the aftertaste. The finish is quite bitter. The beer drinks with a stinging carbonation, medium bodied. This would be better if they had upped the apple. It didn't have to be paramount, but it needed to be stronger and act more as a tarty and fruity counterpoint to the heavy rye.
