Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin

This 7.0% ABV India Pale Ale is from the Ballast Point Brewing Company of San Diego, California. It takes their regular Sculpin IPA and adds natural pineapple flavor.

The beer pours golden and honey with a tint of orange. There is a half-inch of white, foamy head. The aroma is a citrus and toasted malt IPA, with a big and hefty blast of very ripe and tropical pineapple. The taste is the citrus and toasted malt, with a note of dankness. The pineapple then suddenly reappears in the aftertaste. The finish is dry and moderately bitter. The beer drinks easy with refreshing carbonation. I would like this better if the blast of pineapple in the aroma was as strong in the taste.
