The beer pours a very dark brown with
hints of orange-tinted garnet. There is nearly an inch of thick,
off-white to very light tan foam. The head leaves thick layers of
sticky lacing down the glass. The aroma is well roasted malts,
sweetness, but dry and nutty. The taste follows the aromas, very well
roasted and toasted malts, nutty, with an edge of dark caramel.
However, the finish is really quite dry, and with a moderate grassy
bitterness. The beer drinks easy, smooth, but with refreshing
carbonation. This was a style I suspected Summit could nail, and they
did.
