The beer pours black in color. There is about an inch of tan foamy head that completely disappears rather quickly. The aroma is rich dark roasted malt, char, maple syrup and coffee. The taste follows the aromas, lots of dark roasted malt notes, pleasant char, coffee, a bit of bittersweet dark chocolate, with a hint of maple syrup sweetness. The finish is dry and moderately bitter. The beer drinks smooth, with just enough body for all the flavors, and with a light, subtle tingle of carbonation. This is a great stout.
